Privacy Policy

Inkday is a private voice diary. The app stores your entries only on your iPhone. We do not run a backend, accounts or in-app analytics. This policy describes what stays on the device, what we do not collect, and what is processed when you visit this website.

1. Controller

Controller under the GDPR:

Fabian Gruß Digital Solutions
Proprietor: Fabian Gruß
Engelbosteler Damm 77A
30167 Hannover
Germany
Email: inkday@fabiangruss.com

See also the legal notice. No data protection officer is appointed because the law does not require one here.

2. The app does not send diary data to us

Recordings, transcripts, mood and reminder settings stay in the app’s private storage on the device you use. We cannot read this data. We have no server that receives it. The app does not include a developer network stack for uploading diary content.

Locally the iPhone may store:

Permissions

Apple system services (not us)

Apple’s processing is described in Apple’s Privacy Policy. Apple is an independent controller for that processing.

3. This website

This site sets no cookies and loads no analytics, advertising or social plugins.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA · Vercel privacy policy.

A visit generates ordinary server logs: IP address, time, requested file, referrer, browser identifier and status code. They are used to deliver the site, keep it secure and debug errors. Legal basis: GDPR Art. 6(1)(f) (legitimate interest in running a reachable, secure site). We do not combine these logs into a profile.

Vercel may process data in the United States. Where required, transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (GDPR Art. 45) and/or Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46). Log retention follows Vercel’s setup, typically days to weeks unless a longer period is needed to handle abuse.

Email

If you write to inkday@fabiangruss.com, we process the data you send (address, content, optional iOS version) to reply. Legal basis: GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) or (f). We keep the message only as long as needed to handle it and any proof duties, then delete it.

4. Recipients

We do not share diary content — we never receive it. Technical recipient of website requests is Vercel. Purchases and system speech/model downloads are processed by Apple.

5. Retention on the device

Local entries stay until you delete a page or the app. Deleting a page removes transcript and audio immediately. There is no server copy for us to delete.

6. Your rights

Where we process personal data (mainly website logs and email), you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interests (GDPR Arts. 15–21).

Data that exists only on your iPhone you remove in the app or by deleting the app. We cannot access it.

You may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular where you live. In Germany that is the state data-protection commissioner; see the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.

7. No obligation to provide data; no profiling

You do not have to give us personal data. The app works without an account. We cannot answer support mail without an email address. We do not make automated decisions including profiling under GDPR Art. 22.

8. Children

Inkday is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes

If this policy changes, we update this page and the date.
